Resourceful Rah's Blog

Welcome to the Rant Rah! Here is where I’ll share my thoughts and opinions on all things resources, branding, business and much more! This is a blog, something like a business diary for you all to read.

Disclaimer: The Rah Rant won’t have that professional tone you may be use to seeing Resourceful Rah write with.

Hey Y'all,

November has been eventful to say the least. Nonetheless, despite being busy with holidays, my 9a - 5p and running Resourceful Rah I still managed to learn an important lesson this month. Which is, "hold on to your receipts."

Let me rewind...

As a business owner I work tirelessly to ensure I give each and every customer a bang for their buck. I want everyone I work with to leave feeling rewarded. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen no matter how hard I try.

With that said, I recently had a client that wasn't 100% happy with the services they received. This client booked 2 SBA packages but was ultimately denied because multiple applications had been submitted on their behalf. (Now y'all know I've said a million times you can only apply for a SBA loan once per social and/or EIN.) Needless to say the client wasn't happy with the outcome and quite frankly neither was I because my time was wasted. Honesty is always the best policy with me and had this client been honest we could have taken an alternate route to get that loan approved.

Here's where the plot thickens...

By now I'm sure you're all wondering, what does this story have to do with holding on to receipts. Well get this, that client contacted their bank, reported their purchase as fraud and received a temporary reimbursement for the payment. Now guess who's account that money was taken from, MINE! I was furious!! I did my job, I provided quality service yet because this client lied to me and didn't like the results of said lie now I was out of money; $880 dollars to be exact!

Here's where the lesson comes in...

If you read closely you should have noticed I said the client received a "temporary reimbursement." Which means I'm currently fighting that dispute. I created a file which included, every text message and direct message this client and I ever exchanged. I also submitted copies of my business polices and proof that this client was aware of my no refund policy prior to booking me. I'm currently awaiting the banks final decision. However, I KNOW I'm going to win this battle because all the proof is in writing.

Remember documentation always beats conversation so "hold on to your receipts."

P.S I wish I could be their to see this clients face when the bank snatches that $880 from their account. Lol, yes I'm petty like that and I don't care!
