Resourceful Rah's Blog
Welcome to the Rant Rah! Here is where I’ll share my thoughts and opinions on all things resources, branding, business and much more! This is a blog, something like a business diary for you all to read.
Disclaimer: The Rah Rant won’t have that professional tone you may be use to seeing Resourceful Rah write with.
Hey Y’all,
It’s the end of the month so you guys know what time it is. Before we dive into May’s lesson, I’d like to make you all aware that I decided to skip April’s blog entry. Honestly, I was busy with my personal life, I wasn’t inspired and I refused to write a fluff entry so I took the month off. Anywho, I’m bizackkkkk and as always I have a lesson to share, which is, “Be ware of business bullies.”
Let’s further explore this…
In April I was booked for a professional writing order, this customer needed my assistance with writing a formal eviction contestation letter because they were being illegally evicted from their commercial rental unit without just cause. After reviewing the customers lease agreement and the email exchanges between them and the owner of said property, I came up with the nickname “Business Bully.”
Simply put, a business bully is a person with shady business practices. People like this try to take of advantage of small businesses, hoping that they’re unaware of their rights.
Now y’all know I don’t play about my customers and I will not let any of them be taken advantage of! So I immediately began researching tenant rights in the state that they’re located. Childddddd my research revealed that this business bully had broken too many laws to count.
Here’s where the lesson comes in...
Now equipped with knowledge on tenant rights my customer will be fighting this battle in court. And I’m optimistic that things will work out favorably for them because the law is on their side. Of course this business bully is attempting to avoid court by offering my customer a small financial settlement.
Aht! Aht! We’re not having that! I’ve encouraged my customer to fight this matter all way and get back every penny they’re entitled to, purrrrrrrr !! With that said, to my fellow entrepreneurs reading this, use this a cautionary tale. Make sure you document everything when conducting business, read over all your contracts/invoices/lease agreements etc… Make it a priority to familiarize yourself with the laws in the state that you’re operating business out of and most importantly remember, “Be ware of business bullies.”
