Resourceful Rah's Blog

Welcome to the Rant Rah! Here is where I’ll share my thoughts and opinions on all things resources, branding, business and much more! This is a blog, something like a business diary for you all to read.

Disclaimer: The Rah Rant won’t have that professional tone you may be use to seeing Resourceful Rah write with.

Let’s dive right in shall we...

On April 17th I hosted my first networking event; Conversations and Cocktails and it was such a learning experience. The most impactful lesson I learned was “who is SUPPOSE to be there will show up.”

Let me explain...

First and foremost THANK YOU to every single person that attended the Conversations & Cocktails event. Thank you to all my friends, family and customers that helped make the event a success.

I decided to keep the guest list for Conversations and Cocktails very intimate. My goal wasn’t to turn a huge profit by tickets sales but to actually link like minded individuals with resources and services that they’d benefit from. With that said, out of the 20 tickets that were sold only 9 guest showed up. Some guest provided advanced notice that they wouldn’t be able to attend and some were just a no show.  To say I was devastated is an understatement!

Now I know what you’re all thinking, who cares ? They paid for their tickets and you don’t have to refund the money Rah! I know, I know, but I was still very disappointed. I enjoy helping people and was looking forward to sharing information with everyone.  Anyway, as we all know the show must go on. I went on to facilitate the event and things went well. All the guest were engaged and enjoyed themselves. The next day after the event, Keanah, one of the attendees, posted a video about the event on Instagram.

Now here’s where the lesson comes in...

Keanah is a young lady I met via social media. She has a business called IG: @smallbusinessesnj. Her specialty is small business branding and development. She has a large social media following and shares/recommends local small businesses to them, as she sees fit. Her audience trusts her judgement and any business she recommends does numbers PERIOD!

Needless to say I offered her a free ticket, went to one of her pop up shops and gave her a free promo package and surely enough she showed up to Conversation & Cocktails. She had a great time and was gracious enough to share my brand with her audience. Babbbbbbyyyyyy! Let me tell you after her post I gained nearly 40 new followers, 10 website clicks, 2 business inquires and the video she posted is currently at 1,200 views and counting!

Moral of the story don’t worry about who doesn’t come to your events becausewho is SUPPOSE to be there will show up” Keanah’s presence made up for all the people that failed to attend and the exposure gained from our collaboration is priceless. Ohhh & the icing on the cake is Resourceful Rah will now be at her upcoming pop up shop on May 1st!

~Until the next Rant~
